| STUDIES WITH MULTIBENE FOODS CONFIRM BENEFITS |
Multiple Beneficial Effects and Substantial Increase of Life Span in Obese Animals
In a widely used animal model (obese Zucker rat), MultiBene food compositions effectively lower elevated serum cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, decrease obesity and remarkably increase the life-span as shown in the figures below (T. Vaskonen: Dietary combination of mineral nutrients and plant sterols Effects on serum lipids and blood pressure in experimental obesity. Doctoral dissertation. University Press, Helsinki 2002).

MultiBene increases the life-span of the obese rats by more than 50 % during a human type diet, i.e. a diet relatively high in saturated fats and salt. The average life-span in the absence of MultiBene was approximately 9.5 months, and was increased to approximately 15 months in the presence of MultiBene in the same diet. |
| IMPROVEMENT OF CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH MODERATELY ELEVATED SERUM CHOLESTEROL |
MultiBene foods (yoghurt, breads, meat products) lowered serum cholesterol effectively in individuals with moderately elevated serum cholesterol (Figure 1, M. Tikkanen et al. American Journal of Cardiology 2001 Nov 15;88.1157-62.

Figure 5.
MultiBene produces effective lowering of ”bad” LDL-cholesterol in people with moderately elevated serum cholesterol levels. Note that after discontinuation of the use of MultiBene food items, the LDL-cholesterol returns to the original high level (WASHOUT). This proves that the LDL-cholesterol lowering was produced by MultiBene, not by non-specific factors. |
Even more importantly, the ratio of the “good” HDL-cholesterol to the “bad” LDL-cholesterol was substantially, i.e. up to 25 %, increased by the MultiBene foods (Figure 6, M. Tikkanen et al. American Journal of Cardiology 2001 Nov 15;88.1157-62).
