European Union (EU)
MultiBene has gained regulatory approval from the European Union Authorities for the following products:
- yoghurt
- milk
- cheese
- soy drinks
- rye bread
- spicy sauces
- yellow fat spreads
During the EU process the group "Spicy sauces" was defined to comprise the following food items:
Salad dressings and mixes, mayonnaise, dips, soy sauce, gravy mixes (such as hollandaise, béarnaise, vanilla and chocolate sauce etc.), sandwich spreads, ketchup, mustard and marinades. In addition to vegetable-derived plant sterols, the MultiBene authorisation comprises also wood sterols.
USA
In the United States all the MultiBene components have a GRAS status
(GRAS = Generally Recognized as Safe).
In the United States MultiBene food composition are eligible for several important FDA approved health claims, related to increased amounts of phytosterols, calcium and potassium. According to A Food Labeling Guide food items with MultiBene composition can be made eligible for the following pre-approved FDA Health Claims:
